BCA in the UK – Europe’s No. 1 Vehicle Remarketing Company.

About Us

Welcome to BCA. British Car Auctions has been bringing together buyers and sellers for more than 60 years. Starting in 1946 as Southern Counties Car Auctions, we were one of the first companies to let people across the UK buy and sell a wide range of cars at auction, from budget runarounds to exotic imports.

At our first auction we sold 14 cars and generated proceeds of £2,300; today we sell more than 12,000 vehicles a week in physical auctions and over the internet. Now part of BCA Europe, we have an annual turnover of over £4 billion and are Europe’s largest vehicle remarketing company.

Our business is to handle the sale of vehicles on behalf of one group of customers – our vendors – and sell to another group – our buyers. Most of our customers are businesses: fleet operators; manufacturers; finance and leasing houses; rental companies; national authorities; and professionals from across the retail and wholesale motor industry.

However, we don’t just serve the trade: BCA is a great place for anyone to buy or sell. Typically we have more than 10,000 vehicles available at any time – the biggest selection in the UK – from nearly new cars to heavy goods vehicles. For sellers our Sure Sell scheme offers competitive terms, dedicated support and a special sale section at every centre.

Whether you’re new to vehicle auctions or a veteran, we hope you enjoy looking around our site and that it helps you make the most of our wide range of services.

You can browse the auctions at any time without registering, but to bid or post an auction, you must first register.

In order to register on Bumblebee Auctions you must first set up a Nochex, e-money account. Nochex is currently the only form of payment that Bumblebee Auctions accepts. Registration is required to facilitate bidding and payment on this site. You can set up a NOCHEX account now by clicking on the banner below.

Once you have a Nochex account registered, simply click on the Register link. Choose a user name which you can easily remember, and fill in the other required fields. Your password will automatically be generated and emailed to you. You can change your password at any time by choosing the Membership option and then clicking the Change Password link. Once your Nochex account has been set up and you have registered on the site you will be able to bid on items.

You only need to register once, as you can change your user information at any time by choosing Membership, and then clicking the Edit Registration link.

Notes: There may only be one account per email address. The system will not let you create more than one account with the same email address.

Simply navigate to the auction you want to bid on via the category listings or using the search features, and then place your bid. This can be done on the auction page by entering the amount you wish to bid in the box marked Your Maximum Bid. You can then preview your bid and change if necessary; the bid can then be confirmed by clicking on the Place Bid button. If you are then outbid either by reviewing the auction. You can re-bid on the item and so on.

Bumblebeeauctions has been specifically designed and configured to give a bidder a fair chance of winning an item in which he or she is interested. In order to ensure this, the system must give a user a reasonable chance to respond to a rival bid. The practice of placing a bid just as an auction is about to close is called sniping. This can be frustrating for buyers who lose the item right at the last minute with little or no time to respond and place another bid.

Bumblebeeauctions has addressed this problem by introducing automatic auction extensions. i.e. If a user places a bid in the last 10 minutes of an auction, the auction will be extended in 10-minute increments. This is considered a reasonable time for the user to receive an email telling them that they have been outbid, they can then if they want, log on to the system and place another bid.

You can also place a proxy bid. This allows you to place a bid on an auction item up to your limit. The system will then bid for you up to your limit. The winning bid may be less than the amount of your proxy bid.

Any requests to preview items, or for any further information on them, will be denied because complying with them would give an unfair advantage over other bidders.

You must read the Terms and Conditions and any other sales conditions relating to the item before you place your bid. Please note that by bidding, you will enter into a legally binding contract to purchase with the seller if you are the winning bidder. Generally items will not be returnable. You may print a copy of the Terms and Conditions on the website or download a [pdf version here] for you to retain

Completing the Transaction

Once an auction closes an e-mail will be sent to the winning bidder confirming the details of the successful bid. This email will contain a Nochex payment link in order that payment can be made online. If you are the winning bidder you should immediately arrange to pay the seller using this link, once payment has been confirmed you will receive another email which will contain collection details and a unique code for that auction item. This unique code is required to have the item released by the Police Force. You will in addition need some form of identification that confirms your address for e.g. Driving License or utility bill.

The seller may also contact you via the contact information you provided upon registration about arranging collection.

Government auctions are similar in that you can pick up plenty of computers and electrical items.  In addition, you can even get your hands on agricultural equipment and specialist vehicles.  And the discounts on normal prices at government auctions are often huge!
